Dear Alabama Association of Family and Consumer Sciences members:
The Alabama Association of Family and Consumer Sciences (ALAFCS) is pleased to announce that abstracts for research, innovated teaching, creative works, and poster presentations are currently being reviewed for acceptance at the ALAFCS annual conference February 25-26, 2010 in Florence, Alabama.
Submission for papers should be formal in structure and format. The presentations should be a development by the author of substantiated theories or studies from which findings are presented that provide insight into a topic advancing the body of knowledge in the discipline. Presentations should be of topics that include presentation of empirical or research findings, exploration of educational method(s), theory development, critical analysis, creative endeavors or similar subjects. Poster presentation should develop appropriate visual information that expresses an idea or tracks a process relevant to topics in Family and Consumer Sciences.

General Guidelines
One proposal in each category per person is permitted. All presenters must register for the conference. A non-refundable submission fee made payable to the Alabama Association of Family and Consumer Sciences is required for non-members of the organization.

Format for Abstract Submissions
All Submissions: Complete the attached cover sheet with title, submission category, author name(s), addresses and a/v requirements. Use separate cover sheets for each submission. Each submission, regardless of category, must be submitted as an abstract that provides a review of key points. Abstracts are to be double-spaced using 12 point font. Bibliographies, references, titles and addenda are not included in the work count.
Paper and Presentation: 1,000 words maximum. Include title and reference list.
Poster: 250 words maximum. Include title.
